Gozzoli: Journey of the Magi
Gozzoli painted this picture for the palace chapel of Piero dé Medici and is an example of art flaunting wealth. Notre the feathers and diamonds worn by some characters and the black servant in front. The painting is not essentially religious; in fact one critic has said it could be more appropriately called "Journey of the Medici. Like many other Renaissance painters, Gozzoli placed himself in the painting, with his name embroidered on his cap.
